I chose to write about the book " night " by Ellie wisel because the book taught me many different things. I learned that during the times of the holucast it was crucial to think about yourself because you can not always save the others. I also learned about the goodness in others, even in a small act of kindness from someone telling them to switch their age so they might be able to avoid being thought of as too weak. Ellie sticks with his dad the whole time through the story by giving him rations of his bread, to getting him water, to pushing him to keep running when they both knew their body's were at their breaking point. Sadly, Ellie's dad dies of sickness, and Ellie did act a bit selfish in the end not giving his dad what he needed. I don't know if selfish is the right word to use in that situation because something that traumatic can change you as a person. The last major thing that I have learned from this story is to have faith. Faith can help you in your most weak moments. For example, when you see babies being thrown into a ball of fire you ask yourself " how could my god let this happen ", but God has brought people into the earth, and earth where there still is sin, an earth where the people with the most genuine heart can be murdered. God doesn't just sit there and plan when you die because we have free will, and we can not control everything that happens to us on this earth. Our God is a good god and he will always be there for us in our darkest times.

The holocaust dates back to 1933-1945, hitter Germany's chancellor wanted to wipe out all of the Jews in Europe. The places which held many Jews were Romania, Hungary and Poland. Hitler first went into Poland and sent men women and children to concentration camps where you would either work or be killed in some of the most torturous ways possible. One thing that stood out to me was how some of the people that lived near these Jews stayed silent. Some chatholic's did do heroic things to save the Jews, but some just stayed and watched their neighbors be driven away. One fact is that every 2 of 3 Jews died in concentration camps. Families were broken and dreams were ruined. After this dark period passed in Germany their are strict laws stating that you can not say anything bad about Jews because of what they had to endure in that time period. Photo courtesy - holucast encyclopedia places I want to go out of the country, are Tahiti, Greece, Chittorgarh Fort India, Glow worm cave, New Zealand . The reason to why I chose these specific places, was because of the destination, and culture. First off I chose Tahiti because of the easy lifestyle of being able to jump right into the clear beautiful ocean. Next I selected a specific place in India called the " Chittorgarh fort. This is a fort that dates back to the 1500's, and it is one of the largest forts in India. Last but not least the glow worm cave in New Zealand. I found it amazing that these glow worms act as the light in this dark cave. This makes me capture the real essence of how beautiful nature is.
Things I want to accomplish are to do what I love and also have a stable income to support myself. I dream to become a singer / songwriter in the future, or open up my own designer label which I hope could become as big as chanel. Many people at a young age seem to " want to be famous " In their lifetime. Although that seems nice, it is not a dream of mine. The things I want to do seem to come with the price of a bit of fame, but that is not important to me. I would also like to be able to volunteer to help children who do not get to eat three meals in a day, because it is extremely hard to believe that children still do go hungry, and I want to work to help defeat this. This week I learned about sonnet poems. In class we read one from Shakespeare called " summers day ", which was compared to a song. This poem was a sonnet, which had an ababcdcd order, and so on. Sonnets are my favorite types of poems because they can be sad humorous, and many different emotions can be portrayed. For my own sonnet I wrote about money which seemed easy, but It was quite difficult. Finding a word that goes well into the poem , and rhymes with currency was a challenge.
today as a class we listen to a song called stereo by Adam Levine, And compared it to a poem about love. The song was called stereo, and the other poem was called sonnet 30 . Both of the poems had major similarities, for example when the poet said " my love is like a red, red rose " , and the song said " my hearts a stereo" it showed the different ways in which the poets show thier expression.
In class we watched a Ted talk animation video. It was about the unknown things on this earth, for example, atoms. There must be a reason why we are brought into this world, to help, serve, etc. Although scientfic this video also came in touch with my emotions because we are all here on earth, not having mainly a clue why we are here, but we all still manage to keep on growing as communities and help each other. We do not know how long we are going to live, but I do know that this is a gift to be here on earth.https://vine.co/v/OxXj0MvtimB
https://www.physics.ox.ac.uk/documents/PUS/leaflets/leaflet1.htm When I think about advent, I think about hope and love. Every Christmas we expect gifts and material goods. This is the month of our saviors birthday, and I think that everyone should make sure that they are going to mass and thanking Jesus for all that he has done for us. Maybe even go to a homeless shelter and give gifts to the homeless, or help a family who can not provide gifts for their children. Remember to give back and reflect on what Christmas is really about.
Week #1
This week we learned about communication. You get a picture, and you get a storyteller and an illustrator. Once you pick the picture you sit back to back and try to illustrate what the story teller is telling you to do. This was a great excersice because it taught me that listening and being able to communicate clearly is very important for your learning skills. My partner and I got a very complicated picture that was hard to draw because of all the detail, but we were still able to get something close to what the picture was. This was a great learning experience, which I enjoyed and hope that other people will be able to do |
